Katherine “Katina” Thornton MD is a board-certified physician in Anesthesiology and Pain Management. Dr. Thornton graduated summa cum laude from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, while active in her sorority Chi Omega. She completed her medical education at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Following a transitional internship at Methodist Medical Center in Dallas, she accompanied her husband of 30 years to Marine Corps Base Kaneohe in Kailua, Hawaii where he was a flight surgeon with HMM 364 and VMFA 212. There she completed additional medical training at the John A. Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu. She attended a year of law school at the University of Hawai’i, making Law Review, before returning to Dallas to complete her residency in Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern. She recently completed a genomic medicine fellowship and is a diplomate of the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine. She and her husband James have six children, two of whom are also physicians. Dr. Thornton is passionate about nutrition and exercise, is active in CrossFit Health, and participates in the Dallas Medical Reserve Corps.
